During his storied career with the NYPD , Bo Dietl was called to thousands of crime scenes. But nothing he experienced as a cop, before or even after, could have prepared him for what he saw on that extraordinarily rainy Palm Sunday evening of April 15, 1984 after striding into the first floor apartment of the two-family home at 1080 Liberty Street. “Usually you go into a crime scene and there’s a big racket,” Bo remembered. “Cops meeting old friends, talking, laughing. But nobody was saying a word. I go into the living room and it was eeriest sight I’ve ever seen. The victims, mostly kids, were sitting up in chairs and on couches huddled around a television set and the TV is still playing. The way it looked, it looked like they were still watching, only everyone’s got a bullet hole in their head. “One woman still had a bowl of chocolate pudding in one hand and a spoon in the other. A three-year-old boy was next to her with a bullet hole through the eye. He had his arms outstretched like he was trying to reach her.” The only survivor was an 11-month baby girl, who was found crawling among her dead siblings, spared for reasons that remain a mystery to this day.

Back prior to the economic crisis we face today Beau Dietl & Associates conducted a 'Due Diligence' investigation for a prominent investment firm. During our investigation we uncovered information relative to the principal of the deal that he and or his company had dozens of lawsuits (mainly due to loan defaults,foreclosures and fraud) in recent history. Through our research we found that this particular individual had actually continued to acquire property and loans even as other defaults continued to surface.

This investment firm (our client) passed on the deal based on the information we had developed. Subsequent to our investigation this same principal went to another investment firm and proposed the same deal. The new investment firm actually processed the deal and moved forward, loaning in the neighborhood of $200 million to the principal for his project. In the spring of 2007 the principal defaulted on the loan (owing a reported $190 million in mortgage payments, interest and other fees).
